Monday we will complete our Quantitative Data lessons.Students will be ready for a quiz on Tuesday. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday while I am in DC with the 8th grade Mrs. Gleason will be here. Students will be learning about Mean/Median/Mode and practicing creating bar graphs as well as celebrating Pi day (a day early) by finding area and circumference of circles. This week's multiplication quiz there is no 100 problems we will keep the one minute score. Next week we will go back to the 100 problem second chance. Practice your facts this week!
3.3.20
This week our schedule is a little off. Students can expect to take their weekly quiz on Tuesday. There was no weekly quiz last week since students were busy with their Algebra Unit test and NC Check-In. Now that we have started our statistics unit Tuesday will be a good opportunity for students to show off all they know about categorical data. We will then move forward with Quantitative data.
2.24.20
Students can expect to take their Algebra Unit Test on Monday February 24, 2020. Tuesday students will take their NC Check-In for math. Mid-week we will begin our Statistics Unit.
2.18.20
Students will enjoy a long weekend, when they return we will be wrapping up our Algebra Unit. Students can expect to see the unit TEST on Friday February 21. If you have missed any days over the last couple weeks, remember it is your responsibility to find out what you have missed. Check the lessons posted on Canvas and be sure you are keeping up with IXLs and weekly math.
2.10.20
This week we will continuing combining like terms using the distributive property. Students will then be solving one-step equations and graphing inequalities. Looking ahead to next week we will be ready for our Algebra Unit TEST!
2.3.20
More Algebra this week! Students will be discussing properties and combining like terms. By now your mathematician should be able to explain to you what a coefficient is. We are working on Weekly Math #20 and as always, practicing multiplication facts.
1.27.20
This week we will begin our Algebra Unit! The week starts off with squares, cubes and square roots. We will also spend some time reviewing Order of Operations. By the end of the week your mathematician should be able to tell you what a variable is as well as how to find the square root of any perfect square.
*Want a sweet treat? We are in need of tissues, bring in a box and I'll trade you for some candy or chips!*
1.22.20
After a long weekend students will come back and spend two days reviewing before taking their Proportion TEST on Friday January 24.
1.13.20
This week students will continue with proportions. There will be a lot of solving percent story problems. The key to finding the answer is to set up a proportion. This week will be our first ONE MINUTE multiplication quiz. Students have been working towards this all year! Please be sure to have weekly math #17 with you everyday in class. The Percent Unit TEST is coming up NEXT week.
1.6.20
Welcome back and Happy 2020! This week students will pick right up where we left off with ratios. Monday we start the week with Unit Rate. We will then move on to Percent and Proportions. This week students will be working on Weekly Math #16 and Fridays multiplication quiz will be 1:05.
12.16.19
This week we continue with our Ratios unit. There was no weekly quiz last week so this week students will take their weekly quiz on Wednesday. This will include all the new material since our test last Tuesday. Please check out the HOME tab to see what dress up days we have for students to celebrate the upcoming holidays. Thursday is our Bright Blessings service project / inhouse field trip. THANK YOU to all who have donated! You all have been very generous. No weekly math this week.
12.9.19
The week starts with our final review before students take their Decimal Unit TEST on Tuesday. Once we complete our Decimal Unit we will begin Ratios and Proportions. Weekly Math #15 will be posted for students to work on this week. Multiplication has been cut back to 1:15 this week. We are getting close to our goal time of 1:00! If your child struggles with time constraints have they been taking advantage of the untimed opportunity? This should be completed to help raise their grade and it is excellent practice!
12.2.19
Monday we take a break from math to see Snakes Alive! Tuesday we will pick back up our work on the coordinate plane. Students will be reflecting shapes across the X and Y axis. We will also take another look at adding and subtracting integers before we start our review. Students will be taking their Decimal Unit TEST on Tuesday December 10.
11.25.19
Monday students will begin working on the coordinate plane. We will discuss ordered pairs and do some plotting. We will also be doing some adding and subtracting of integers. No weekly math this week. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving break!
11.18.19
To start this week students will spend two days on division. Long division, decimals and learning how to divide with NO remainders. We will then move on to negative integers comparing and ordering and talking about absolute value.
11.12.19
This week as we move forward with decimals students will be adding and subtracting decimals (LINE THEM UP!) and multiplying (BUMP) Thursday we will take the Math NC Check-In.
11.4.19
This week we will begin our Decimal Unit. Monday starts with place value. Students will be comparing and ordering decimals as well as rounding. By the end of the week we will be changing decimals to fractions and fractions into decimals.
10.28.19
Thursday is our Fraction TEST! The beginning of the week we will spend reviewing for our test. Check out Canvas to see everything you can expect to be tested on. Friday's multiplication quiz will be 1:40. Keep practicing those facts nightly.
10.21.19
Moving forward with Fractions, this week we will be working on computation. Students will begin the week with addition and subtraction, then move on to multiplication and division Students will need to remember what we worked on the previous week in order to multiply and divide mixed numbers.
10.14.19
This week starts with Fraction representation. Students will be looking at equivalent fractions, comparing and ordering fractions and benchmark fractions. By the end of the week we will be changing improper fractions to mixed number and changing mixed numbers into improper fractions. This week students are working on WM#8 and Friday's multiplication quiz will be 1:50. Keep up the good work!
10.7.19
This week we begin a new unit. Students will start the week with LCM/GCF. Please ask your mathematician what these letters mean. By Tuesday they should be able to give you an example of both. The rest of the week we will be working on Exponents, and Prime Factorization. Friday's quiz will contain all of the concepts listed. Friday will also be the first multiplication quiz with time deducted. Students will have one minute and 55 seconds.
10.1.19
This week after students enjoy a long weekend they will return to spend three days reviewing for their Geometry TEST. The first unit test of the year. This test will be taken on their laptops. All IXL from this term are due Friday.
9.23.19

After enjoying Monday relaxing, students will return ready to begin our Geometry Unit. We will start reviewing terminology and how to find the area and perimeter of squares, rectangles, triangles and parallelograms. Weekly Math #2 is due Monday 9.9.19. As always, students can look forward to taking their weekly quizzes on Friday. Slight change of plans: There will still be a multiplication quiz on Friday. However, I have decided to push back Friday's weekly quiz (area/perimeter) to Monday since we have lost a lot of class time working through beginning of the year computer issues.
8.26.19
Welcome!! Students will take a diagnostic assessment Tuesday in class. This is not for a grade, it will help me know what students have forgotten over the summer. In class we will be discussing Rules of Divisibility along with Prime and Composite Numbers. Students will take their first multiplication quiz and weekly quiz by the end of the week! Weekly Math will start THIS week.
